Crete is one of the trending vacation destinations for 2022 thanks to its jaw-dropping views and unique architecture. You can see the ancient palaces of Knossos and Phaistos, and immerse yourself in the island’s rich history, dating back to Ancient Greece, and even back to the Bronze Age. The Palace of Knossos is the largest ancient site to visit. It is where the Minotaur met his end at the hands of Theseus.

The Crete landscape is a thing of beauty. You can admire the faraway mountains all while lounging on a sandy beach. 400 beaches on the island have been awarded Blue Flag status, which means that they comply with a list of environmental protections and precautions. Each of the beaches has its own vibe – ones decorated with tavernas and outside cocktail bars, others that are a lot more chilled out and minimalist… Plus with over 300 days of sunshine a year, there’s no excuse to catch up on that summertime glow! The Bosphorus Strait divides the European and Asian sides of the city. You can get incredible views of the city, and you can even get a boat tour to really take it all in. Fall in love with the Ottoman waterfront mansions and jaw-dropping Istanbul skyline. If you’re looking to splash the cash, you can even get a private yacht to tour the Bosphorus Strait.

You’ll also love the food in Istanbul. The capital is known for its strong food scene, and many chefs rework traditional Turkish recipes with a modern twist. The food has the perfect balance between Eastern and Western food, from authentic Ottoman food to Turkish mezes or meat for example. You can test the street food, or try out the selection of Michelin star restaurants. You will be stuck for choice when it comes to eating out!

Naples is one of the trending vacation destinations for 2022. It is a beautiful, historical place with food and culture to match. The city center is a UNESCO heritage site, and you can explore the city’s ancient ruins. Naples is close to the ancient ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and they are a must-see upon your travels. You can even see the bones of people buried in the ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79. Even though there is a lot of ancient architecture, the landscape is diverse in the city of Naples. It has architecture dating through the ages, not just from the Ancient Roman times, but the city has different dynastic influences. 

The city of Naples is also known for its food scene. You can taste the best pizza and pasta here, and even at affordable prices. Or you can even try to make your own! It’s hardly surprising that France is known for its gastronomy. There are some restaurants with unique views and food to match. Le George is a rooftop restaurant on the top of the Georges Pompidou art gallery in Le Marais. In the summer, it’s great to have a drink on the terrace and admire the 360° view of the city of light. Café Marly is another restaurant with unique views, as it gives onto the Louvres. You can have a coffee here after having an educational afternoon at Paris’ most famous museum.
